The main grain crops in China are rice, wheat, corn, sorghum, millet, potato and soybean. Among them, rice, wheat and corn are the most widely distributed and yield the most, accounting for more than 86% of the total grain output in China.
1, Rice. China is the first country to grow rice and produce the most rice in the world. Among all kinds of grain crops, the average yield of rice is the highest, accounting for 29% of the total sown area and 42.4% of the total yield. More than 90% of rice is concentrated in the south of Huaihe River and Qinling Mountains.
2, Wheat. The sown area and yield of wheat account for 26.7% and 23% of grain respectively, which are widely distributed in the whole country, with the most in the Huang Huai Hai Plain and the Yangtze River Basin, which can be divided into winter wheat and spring wheat, mainly winter wheat, whose area and yield account for more than 80% of wheat.
3, Corn. Corn is second only to rice and wheat in the composition of grain crops, and ranks first in miscellaneous grains. The main concentrated cultivation area is from Daxinganling of Heilongjiang Province, through southern Liaoning, northern Hebei, Southeast Shanxi, southern Shaanxi, Northern Hubei, western Henan, Sichuan Basin, and from western Guizhou and Guangxi to southwest Yunnan, the area accounts for about 80% of the total area of corn in China.
4, Sorghum, millet and soybean. It is mainly distributed in North and Northeast China.
5, Potato crops. Most of them are sweet potato, accounting for about 80% of potato area, followed by potato and a small amount of cassava.
