As involving with water treatment, the processing of pumpkin seeds is more complicated than other seeds and nuts. There are totally 7 steps involved with the processing.
- cleaning seeds
- calibrating seeds to more than 6 sizes
- soaking seeds with water, to make the kernels soft
- de-hulling seeds one size after one size separately(need change the screen under the huller for processing different sizes)
- drying kernels with sun or dryer
- fine-separating of kernels to ensure no impurities, including color sorting,etc
- packing kernels
